Oliver Twist
This grittier version of the Dickens saga is a typically well-done presentation from the BBC with the roles of criminal Fagin (Spall), violent Bill Sikes (Hardy), and tragic Nancy (Okonedo) particularly well-cast. Born in a workhouse, plucky orphan Oliver (Miller) has many misadventures in London, falls into bad company, is rescued, and has his true past and family revealed.
