Jobless filmmaker Mark Bellison (Gervais) lives in a rather drab world where lying, in all its forms (embellishment, flattery, storytelling, religion, and presumably politics) has yet to be discovered. During the course of a particularly bad day, Mark discovers that the untruth can set you free. Interesting and funny concept takes on some big issues in an amusing way, but falters after a brilliant opening. Gervais leavens some potentially offensive (to some) and cringe-worthy spots with genuine warmth and, well, honesty.
