Reworking of the 1975 Disney classic "Escape from Witch Mountain" adds muscle, firearms, and non-stop action to satisfy the modern young audience. Jack Bruno (Johnson), an ex-con Vegas cabbie, finds sweet-looking teenaged siblings Sara (Robb) and Seth (Ludwig) in the back seat of his cab from out of nowhere--after their spaceship crashes--and needing his help to get to the desert. A wad of cash persuades the skeptical Bruno. Along the way they're harassed by Bruno's former underworld associates, targeted by an especially nasty extraterrestrial terminator, pursued by well-armed agents in black SUVs, and then accompanied by a slightly kooky UFO-seeking astrophysicist (Gugino). Sacrifices plot and character development for its frenetic pace. It's more about "hold on tight, it's gonna be a bumpy ride."
