Gomorrah
This is nothing like "The Godfather." Instead it's a dramatization of Saviano's expose of Neapolitan crime as controlled by the so-called Camorra families. Director Garrone avoids glamorizing the violence as he uses five interconnecting stories to demonstrate their insidious control in all areas of daily life. Then things actually get worse as rival factions start a turf war. It's complicated keeping track of the different characters and power struggles but it's slice-of-life realism at its best. Italian with subtitles.
