Closing the Ring
Schmaltzy drama begins in the 1990s with Ethel (MacLaine) burying her unloved husband. She's surprised when their old friend Jack (Plummer) comes to the funeral. Meanwhile in Ireland, Quinlan (Postlethwaite) digs around a WWII B-17 bomber crash site and finds a ring engraved with the names Ethel and Teddy. Flashbacks lead to the 1940s romance of Ethel (Barton) and her first husband Teddy (Amell), which also involved his best friends Chuck (Alpay) and Jack (Smith).
