Nine

Adaptation of the 1982 Broadway musical, which was itself inspired by Fellini's 1963 film, "8 1/2." Famous film director Guido Contini (Day-Lewis) is in the midst of working on his latest movie while struggling with his complicated personal life, which includes a number of women, including his sultry and vulgar mistress (Cruz). The music that needs to be onstage, is, instead playing over and over inside his head. A massive challenge to bring this to screen, which, unfortunately collapses under its own grandeur. Devoid of Felliniesque surrealism, and even fails to deliver a single show-stopping number. Disappointing follow-up for "Chicago" director Rob Marshall.
