A humanitarian wartime adventure weepie based on the story of British reporter George Hogg (Rhys-Meyers). He's reporting on the Sino-Japanese War and the Japanese invasion of Nanking in 1937 when he's wounded and taken by Australian nurse Lee (Mitchell) to recover in a remote orphanage for boys. It's not remote enough, however, to escape the war. As the Japanese army approaches, George, Lee, and Communist rebel Chen (Chow) lead 60 boys on a 700-mile trip across the mountains to a safer haven. English, Chinese, and Japanese with subtitles.
