Institutionalized for months after a suicide attempt, Anna (Browning) returns home for the first time since the tragic death of her ill mother (Masser) to find that her father (Strathairn) is engaged to Rachel (Banks), mom's nurse during her illness. Suspicious of Rachel's overly saccharin behavior, Anna and sister Alex (Kebbel) soon see Rachel's dark side. By then Anna begins seeing disturbing visions--among them the ghost of her mother delivering a message of doom about the soon-to-be stepmom. Remake of the 2003 Korean horror hit "Changhwa Hongryeon" (A Tale of Two Sisters), its great cinematography and even better locations fall short of delivering the original's uneasy suspense, though the final plot twist is definitely creepy.
