Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Third installment in the "Underworld" franchise serves as a prequel for the earlier offeringsand is set a thousand years prior to the original. Explains the origin of the epic conflict between the werewolves and vampires born in the dark ages. Favored Lycan member Lucian (Sheen) falls in love with Sonja (Mitra), the daughter of chief vampire and villain Viktor (Nighy). The affair provokes Viktor's wrath while in turn Lucian instigates an uprising among the Lycans. The two clans do magical battle in mostly inky dark settings with the exception of the blood, which shoots across the screen like fireworks. Nothing surprising or interesting, but hard-core fans will appreciate the history behind the discord.
