Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail

Formulaic dramedy that makes outlaw grandma Medea (Perry) even more obnoxious than usual. This time Medea's law-breaking antics takes second place to the story of up-from-the-ghetto assistant DA Joshua Hardaway (Luke) who's shocked by the arrest of childhood friend Candace (Knight Pulliam), now a druggie hooker. Joshua's upscale fiancee Linda (Overman) is naturally upset by Joshua's persistence in trying to help Candace (which isn't selfless). Medea comes in when she winds up in the joint with Candace as a fellow inmate, thus allowing Medea to offer her own brand of trash-talking inspiration.
