Based on the sordid true crime story of the heirs to the Bakelite plastics fortune. Insecure Brooks Baekeland (Dillane) is soon indifferent to his wife Barbara (Moore), a poseur who craves acceptance within their jet-set society. Pathologically needy for love, Barbara smothers only son Tony (Redmayne) to the point of being incestuous, which exacerbates his mental instability until he murders mommy dearest. Although it covers decades (from the mid-1940s to the early 1970s), Moore never ages, which is just one of the conundrums.
