Based on John Grogan's own 2005 memoir, follows his (Wilson) and wife Jenny's (Aniston) lives as reporters in Florida. John is unhappy when the local paper editor (Arkin, with great comedic effect) gives him a column-writing assignment while also tentative about Jenny's desire to start their family. Enter Marley, a loveable but highly energetic and destructive yellow lab John dubs "the world's worst dog," who manages to win their hearts as he eats their furniture and becomes their constant companion as they journey into parenthood. Undoubtedly appealing to the younger set but parents need to beware a major tearjerker at the end. Wilson and Aniston are easy on the eyes and get along well enough, but it plays more as a sitcom then a major film.
