Director Reichhardt crafts a stripped-down and poignant gem of Wendy's (Williams) never-quite-finished and financially challenged journey from Indiana to Alaska, where she attempts to free herself from an unemployed, dead-end existence. With her lovable mutt, Lucy, as her sole traveling companion, Wendy just can't seem to catch a break along the way. In Oregon her beat-up Honda breaks down and she finds herself locked up, hit with a fine, and dogless after trying to lift some jerky and dog food from the local market.
