Wendy and Lucy

Director Reichhardt crafts a stripped-down and poignant gem of Wendy's (Williams) never-quite-finished and financially challenged journey from Indiana to Alaska, where she attempts to free herself from an unemployed, dead-end existence. With her lovable mutt, Lucy, as her sole traveling companion, Wendy just can't seem to catch a break along the way. In Oregon her beat-up Honda breaks down and she finds herself locked up, hit with a fine, and dogless after trying to lift some jerky and dog food from the local market. An honest but not sentimental portrait of the realities of life in America normally hidden away.
