Worthy entry in the post-9/11 espionage thriller subgenre puts a fairly interesting spin on an otherwise formulaic plot, showcasing the always solid Cheadle as Samir Horn, a Sudanese-American who is either a spy working for the U.S. or a converted terrorist who has embraced Muslim extremism. Pic keeps the secret well as Cheadle deftly plays both sides, and is further enhanced by strong performances by Pearce as an open-minded FBI agent and an underutilized Daniels as an intelligence bureaucrat who seems to know the truth. Stereotypes and convoluted manufactured plot twists bog things down a bit, but ultimately it's Cheadle's subtle and nuanced performance, which never tips his character's hand, that makes it worthwhile.
