Rather luridly told pro-union film. Korean war vet Alan Mitchell (Mathews) discovers his father Walter (Cobb), who owns a dress company, has been paying protection money to union-busting mobster Ravidge (Boone). Having joined the firm, Alan likes what union boss Tulio Renata (Loggia) has to say and tries to convince his pops, which results in two murders. So Alan looks for dirt on Ravidge to take to the D.A. after getting some personal revenge first. Director Robert Aldrich was replaced by Sherman near the end of the shoot and went uncredited.
