With a penchant for pursuing his much younger female graduate students, literature professor and serial seducer David Kepesh (Kingsley) is taken off-guard by his strong feelings for his latest, and particularly alluring conquest, Consuela (Cruz). Despite her hopes to the contrary, David is seemingly incapable of changing his bachelor ways, including his continued bedding of former student Carolyn (Clarkson). His life is further complicated by a strained relationship with his adult son. Hopper has an unusually understated role as David's ill-advised advice-giver.
