On paper, this must've looked like the world's greatest buddy-cop flick. Turk (De Niro) and Rooster (Pacino), long-time friends and partners, have been assigned to investigate the recent murders of violent criminals who've gotten off on legal technicalities. Neither is too motivated to solve the case, almost grateful for the vigilante's sense of justice. Keeping them in check are detectives Perez (Leguizamo) and Riley (Wahlberg), who begin to suspect one of the two. Unfortunately, it's a fairly routine police drama that likely would've gone straight to DVD or turned into an episode of "CSI" had it not been for its heavyweight billing. De Niro and Pacino's third film together, but only the second time they've actually shared screen time.
To some, Righteous Kill may have been the long-anticipated reunion of two acting titans (Al Pacino and Robert De Niro).
