Adrienne Willis (Lane) needs some peace and quiet to ponder her chaotic personal life, so she decides to spend a weekend at a friend's coastal North Carolina inn. A major storm is forecast so the only guest is Dr. Paul Flanner (Gere), who's trying to reconcile with his estranged son Mark (Franco). Naturally, the unhappy (but impossibly attractive) pair turns to each other for advice, and soon they're cooing and wooing against the swoony Outer Banks setting. Too bad it's sappy as a freshly cut pine tree. The completely predictable and contrived story feels engineered simply to jerk tears. Based on the 2002 Nicholas Sparks novel.
