The Notorious Landlady

State Department employee William Gridley (Lemmon) is transferred to London and rents a flat from Carlye Hardwicke (Novak). Her shady husband Miles (Reed) is missing and Gridley's boss Ambruster (Astaire) and Scotland Yard Inspector Oliphant (Jeffries) ask Gridley to snoop around. When Miles turns up, he threatens Carlye over some stolen jewels and she kills him and goes on trail. There's also a pawn ticket, a blackmail scheme, and an old lady (Winwood) who saw too much. Fast paced comic mystery.
