Director Takashi Miike is known for surreal, disturbing films, and this is him at his most over the top. In a very unusual family, the father is a reality television host/reporter shunned by his fellow workers (in a documentary on young women becoming prostitutes he tries to convince his own daughter to sleep with him). The mother is a heroin addict so far gone she can barely communicate. Her son, bullied brutally at school, has taken to torturing her for relief. To say they have ‘mental issues' is seriously downplaying it. Then one day a young man hits the father over the head with a rock, moves in, and begins terrorizing the family in one of the most hallucinatory films ever made.
