The original sequel to "Ringu," directed and released at the same time. It is closer to the actual book, and attempts to explain the first film with pseudo science, which is probably why it bombed at the Japanese box office and is largely forgotten. Taking place directly after the first film, the body of Reiko's ex husband is being examined by his longtime friend Dr. Ando, a pathologist. Ando finds a cryptic note in his friend's stomach, which leads him to discover the dreaded video tape that kills all who watch it within a week. Depressed over the death of his own child, Ando watches the tape, only to discover that Sadako has very different plans for him.
