Predictable mix of romantic comedy with some tears thrown in. Control freak Jack (Prinze) is a New York ad exec who meets cute but naive newcomer Jill (Manning). Soon they are friends with benefits, negotiating their relationship with a generally light-hearted nine-rule manifesto. Except Jill breaks the honesty rule in a big way when she doesn't tell Jack that she has cystic fibrosis.
