Not exactly your typical Christmas fare, although the schmaltz is laid on as thickly as icing on cookies. Mary (Rogers) meets Zachary (Cotten) on a train as she's traveling to Texas to spend the holidays with her family. They've both got secrets: she's on a good behavior furlough from the pen where she's serving time for manslaughter, and he's a shell-shocked soldier on leave from the psych ward. Mary takes Zach home for a family Xmas and they fall in love but she doesn't want to make his shaky hold on his sanity worse by admitting she's going back to jail. 17-year-old Temple plays curious cousin Barbara. Adapted from the radio play "Double Furlough" by Charles Martin.
