Yella

Yella, a woman from the former East Germany, lands a job in the western city of Hanover, where she plans to break free of her violent, estranged husband Ben. Despite the abuse, Yella continues to give in to her husband's demands and finds that her past will not stop haunting her. She bounces from one strange encounter to another as writer-director Petzold slices a tightly wound psychological thriller out of a timeline that weaves from present to past.
