Huston's last film is a brooding western from director Mann with Stanwyck as the ultimate daddy's girl who wants revenge when she feels betrayed. In 1870s New Mexico, ruthless widowed rancher T.C. Jeffords (Huston) has secured a large bank loan in exchange for driving off some squatters, including a Mexican family whom daughter Vance (Stanwyck) regards as friends. Vance is furious when daddy marries scheming socialite Florence (Anderson), so she attacks her unwelcome stepmommy. There's also problems involving Vance's dowry (and who's getting the money) and Rip (Corey), a gambler-turned-banker with his own agenda when he teams up with Vance to ruin her father.
