In 1970, Brazil is ruled by a military dictatorship, which forces the activist parents of 12-year-old Mauro (Joelsas) to go underground to escape arrest. So Mauro finds himself being cared for by his grandfather's grumpy neighbor Shlomo (Haiut), a member of the Orthodox Jewish community in San Paulo. Mauro's naturally confused and lonely as he tries to adjust to his new circumstances in this fairly familiar and sentimental tale. Portuguese, Hebrew, and Yiddish with subtitles.
