Sex and the City: The Movie

What's essentially a supersized episode of the hugely popular HBO series becomes the mother of all chick flicks. The well-heeled galpals, now over forty but still able to spend a ridiculous amount of time together, serve up more of the same as they each ponder the fate of their impossibly fabulous domestic lives. This time it's Carrie's (Parker) non-wedding to Mr. Big (Noth) that anchors the break-ups and make-ups. What the plot lacks in substance (and at times, sense), it makes up for in style. Davis's Charlotte is especially sharp amid the melodrama and silliness, but it's the witty, shameless glee of the collective sisterhood that's the real draw.
