After scoring some super-robust dope--the "Pineapple Express" of the title--from his buddy/dealer Saul (a high-spirited Franco), process server/burnout Dale (Rogen, also a co-writer) heads to subpoena Ted (Cole), who coincidentally is Saul's supplier. Panicked by the sight of a cop car outside the house, Dale catches sight of Ted and corrupt policewoman Carol (Perez) in the middle of a murder. When Ted makes the reefer connection, the constantly stoned buddies end up on the run. Think Cheech and Chong, but with more consistent laughs and lots of action-movie violence. And explosions.
The title of the latest Apatow-verse comedy, Pineapple Express, refers to a particularly rare and potent blend of marijuana, a miracle buzz that only a few lucky people can get from the right dealer.
