John Hancock (Smith) is a crusty drunk who has superhero powers, although he doesn't know why or how. He might save the day, but he creates havoc and financial ruin in the process. After Hancock saves his life, PR guy Ray Embrey (Bateman) steps in to spiff up Hancock's image. Hancock has a history with Ray's wife Mary (Theron), only he doesn't remember and she's not talking (yet). But Mary's secret comes out, and Hancock is thrown for a loop. Some fun amid a flimsy plot, which won't matter for Smith fans anyway.
