Excellent casting brings the dusty 1960s TV comedy series back to life. Maxwell Smart (played brilliantly by Carell), the bumbling secret agent, is promoted within the CONTROL organization (like the CIA, but not as cool) and sent to Russia to take out super-villain Siegfried (Stamp). Balancing Smart's buffoonery is his new partner, the beautiful Agent 99 (Hathaway), who continually saves him from his own blunders. Not a cheap knock-off, but a slick spy spoof that could easily pass for a James Bond installment (if weren't so funny, that is).
