Life Is a Bed of Roses

Three intertwined stories from Resnais. Count Forbeck is building a castle in Ardennes, planning to start a utopian society before WWI interferes. After the war, Forbeck tries again, offering his friends a drug that will make them forget the past, although his former love Livia refuses the offer. By the 1980s, the castle has been transformed into a progressive school that allows children's imaginations to roam free, although not all the educators are comfortable with the idea. While the adults fuss over their methods, the children play a fairytale game of knights and dragons. French with subtitles.
