We Own the Night
Nightclub manager Bobby (Phoenix) has distanced himself from his cop father Bert (Duvall) and brother Joseph (Wahlberg) to work for Russian mobster Marat (Moshonov) and his drug-dealing nephew Vadim (Veadov). After a raid, Vadim attacks Joseph, and Bobby nervously agrees to become an informant. The performances are okay (everyone's done better work) but Mendes is inarguably hot as Bobby's personal party girl. Set in late 1980s Brooklyn, this stark crime story superficially harkens back to the police dramas of the 70s.
