First it was the Holocaust and now Benigni uses the backdrop of the war in Iraq, circa 2003, for his absurdist tragicomedy romance. Exuberant Roman poet Attilio (Benigni) passes himself off as an aid worker and heads to Baghdad when he discovers Vittoria (Brachi), the woman he loves, has been seriously injured in a bombing.
