Badly dated satire (from the novel by Max Shulman) turned slapstick comedy. Harry (Newman) and Grace (Woodward) Bannerman live in the quiet commuter community of Putnam's Landing, CT. When the Air Force chooses the town as the site of a new missile base, civic-minded Grace joins a committee to halt the project, much to the initial embarrassment of reservist Harry, who's chosen as the government's liaison. Local vamp Angela (Collins) regards their marital misunderstandings as her chance to console handsome Harry. Unfortunately, Newman was never good at flat-out comedy and the strain shows.
