28 Weeks Later

Sequel to "28 Days Later" serves up new flawed protagonists and same old angry zombies ravaging Britain. Don (Carlyle), attacked by a horde infected by the rage virus, leaves his wife Alice (McCormack) behind. Reunited in an American-run safe zone in London, Alice infects Don and all hell breaks loose and American occupiers must fight for their lives, sometimes at the expense of morality. Brutally terrifying and relentlessly paced, director Fresnadillo also injects wit and allegory, although both get buried as the movie progresses into a full-blown bloodfest.
