The Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of... heck, if you were alive during the 1980s, you know how the song goes. Bombast specialist Bay brings the successful toy/TV show franchise to the big screen, with this tale of transforming robots from outer space whom travel to Earth in search of the mythical Allspark cube. There's lots of rock 'em-sock-'em action, but the whole movie isn't nearly as big, dumb, or fun as it should be, though LaBeouf's "boy and his robot" storyline is the best of the multiple plotlines.
More Fun Than It Should Be criddic2 at 2011-04-22 01:41:25
I was surprised to find this to be so easy to like. Sure, it's not a "high-concept" action movie, but it provides a good time. The characters are likable enough to spend 2 hours with, and Shia LeBeouf works well in his CGI surroundings. This is a better-than-average Michael Bay movie. (I give it 2 paws, since I can't give it 2 1/2, and three seems borderline.)
Not good by any standard, but watchable. NWRdr4 at 2010-01-31 16:07:28
The entire movie revolves around giant CGI robots fighting each other--nothing else. And for providing these fun, entertaining robot fights, I give it some credit. The movie doesn't deserve anything more, however, for the mediocrity that surrounds the lame acting and idiotic script (which, for the most part, lacks characterization and intelligent dialogue).
So if you're looking for a dumb, loud popcorn movie, look no further than Transformers. If you're in the mood for something a little classier, skip it. That's all there is to it.
Brilliantly detailed out. zerocool at 2009-04-04 14:57:07
Brilliant!! I have seen this movie atleast 20 times and each time there is something new that i am awed about. The concept and the transformations are just out of this world. Amazing level of detail taken care of.
