Costner goes the bad guy route in this suspense thriller about a serial killer who's the family man next door (if more tightly wound). Earl Brooks is a loving father and husband, a successful businessman, and a philanthropist. If he just didn't have that pesky alter-ego, Marshall (Hurt), constantly telling him it's time to kill again. But Brooks makes an uncharacteristic mistake and is seen by Mr. Smith (Cook), who blackmails him into coming along on his next bloody excursion. Detective Tracy Atwood (Moore) is burdened by too many personal issues to be very effective. It's really the Brooks/Marshall show and if you're interested in either/both Costner and Hurt, you'll enjoy yourself.
