Rickety construction undermines the cast. Affluent white architect Leo Waters (LaPaglia) lives with his dysfunctional family on Chicago's North Shore. Black activist Tonya Neely (Davis) is an occupant of a South Side housing tower that Leo designed, which in now gang-controlled and falling apart. Tonya, who has her own family issues, wants the towers torn down for new housing and thinks Leo's signature on her petition will help her efforts, but he's reluctant to participate.
