Lonely Hearts
True crime thriller based on the 1940s Lonely Hearts Killers, previously filmed as "The Honeymoon Killers" (1970). Raymond (Leto) is a smalltime con artist who's overwhelmed by possessive--and homicidal-- partner Martha (Hayek), who decides it's best to off their female marks. Morose New York detective Elmer Robinson (Travolta) and partner Hildebrandt (Gandolfini) are assigned to the case. Director Robinson (the grandson of the real-life detective) is matter-of-fact about the violence, which makes it more shocking, and Hayek is the ultimate fatal beauty.
