With death sequences so unnecessarily elaborate, even fans of the franchise may be tiring of the gore. Along with accomplice Amanda (Smith), a dying Jigsaw (Bell) kidnaps surgeon Lynn (Soomekh), with the hope that she can remove his brain tumor. A difficult procedure, especially when you're wearing an explosive neck brace that will detonate if your patient's heart rate flatlines. Distracting flashbacks supposedly offer motivations for the actions but, by now, the franchise lacks the surprise of the original.
