Right-wing senator Jack Kray (Lerner) decides to use his college- student son Henry (Newton) in his reelection campaign in order to attract the youth vote. Except Henry's gay, and while he's living it up within his college confines, he's not out to the rest of the world, including his parents. Over-the-top soapiness and preachiness ensue as secrets and truth affect the dynamics of family, friendship, and public image. Allen is excellent as the smile-and-wave political wife who likes a cocktail, but the good performances are crushed by a heavy-handed script.
