Ponderous, repetitive (and loose) adaptation of a Lovecraft story. In 1908, in New York's Catskill Mountains, deformed Joe Slaader (Sanderson) is confined to the Ulster County Asylum after murdering his family. But with Joe's arrival come sinister forces that seemingly infect the inmates and they begin to take over the madhouse.

My question after 20 minutes into this was "Are they for real?"
If this movie was trying to be broad and campy comedy, in the vein of "Young Frankenstein", it would be great, however it's classified under horror, and is that ever a mis-statement!
Way over the top hammy acting, a virtually unintelligible script and Guy Maddin-style artschool meanderings, meets an X-files type "parasitic twin with a brain" (on the back of an inbred hillbilly mountain man) leave this movie too funny for any kind of rational explanation. If the filmmakers were serious, it's even more bizarre.
