It's a no-brainer concept--Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver--but Ferrell's talented enough that he could probably make "Will Ferrell as a stamp collector" pretty entertaining. Race car legend Ricky Bobby is the oblivious king of his racing circuit until French Formula-1 driver Jean Girard (Baron Cohen) bests him and ruins Ricky's confidence. There are lots of laughs as Ricky claws his way back on top, but the scenario is so similar to Ferrell and director Adam McKay's previous effort, "Anchorman", that the whole affair has a "been there, done that" vibe. McKay's inability to ever yell "cut" during Ferrell's increasingly tedious tangents doesn't help either.
