Workaholic family man Michael Newman (Sandler) needs a universal remote to simplify at least one thing in his life. Salesclerk Morty (Walken) hands over a special device that allows Michael to pause, mute, fast-forward, and rewind his actual life. Naturally, this is not the blessing that Michael first imagines it to be. Sandler does some more of his disgruntled man-child shtick, Walken is benignly crazy, and Beckinsale is nagging and hot.
This is one movie I was glad to be watching on video...so I could fast-forward! I kept waiting for it to get good and it never happened. Redeeming factor: Christopher Walken was creepy in a good way, as usual.
