Casey Carlyle (Trachtenberg) is a high school science whiz kid who needs a stellar science project to get into Harvard. She decides to analyze the science of figure skating by observing a bunch of local elite skaters at a nearby rink. Casey is not satisfied with simply observing, so she straps on a pair of skates and starts taking lessons. She soon realizes that she has a natural talent for it, but her feminist mother (Joan Cusack) disapproves. While the movie holds no surprises, it's still enjoyable for the target audience. Go figure.
