Creepy psychological thriller finds widowed Anna (Kidman) finally making a commitment to marry Joseph (Huston) ten years after her husband Sean's death. That is until a strange 10-year-old, also named Sean (Bright), turns up insisting that Anna cannot remarry because he is her spouse. Sean is impervious to any suggestion otherwise and his very insistence comes to convince the emotionally fragile woman. None of this goes over well with Anna's imperious mother (Bacall) or the rest of her family, let alone her frustrated fiance. Various explanations are offered and director Glazer elegantly camouflages plot holes. Kidman, with her severe pixie haircut, somewhat resembles Mia Farrow in "Rosemary's Baby," but one thing you can be certain of is here, the devil didn't do it.
