Surprisingly clumsy political drama finds Sayles pushing his ensemble in places they're not comfortable going. Conservative Richard "Dim Dickie" Pilager (Cooper) is the son of a U.S. senator (Murphy) and the current frontrunner in the Colorado governor's race. He's about to film a commercial on a picturesque river when he fishes out a very dead body instead of a trout. Savvy and suspicious campaign manager Chuck Raven (Dreyfuss) hires disgraced journalist-turned-PI Danny O'Brien (Huston) to investigate the three prime suspects: talk show host Castleton (Ferrer), environmental crusader Lyle (Waite), and Dickie's black sheep sister Maddy (Hannah). Disappointing tale of a conspiracy of corruption and all-too easy targets.
