Uneven, subversive satire about teens at a fundamentalist Christian high school hits a lot of standard cliches and makes a plea for tolerance at the same time. Good girl Mary (Malone) finds out boyfriend Dean (Faust) is gay and has a vision of "curing" him through sex. She winds up pregnant, which puts Mary clearly on the side of the sinners as far as the school's self-righteous queen bee Hilary Faye (Moore) is concerned. Of course, the sinners seem to be having more fun. Mary's situation engages the sympathy of sweet believer Patrick (Fugit), the son of the school's zealous principal, Pastor Skip (Donovan). Moore and Malone well play the opposing force of their characters and are ably supported by the rest of the cast.

....when a friend suggested this I thought they were crazy. I don't want to watch a movie about a catholic high school. I was SO wrong! Fresh! Funny! So VERY entertaining - and I swear I've met each one of these characters in my life! Good time! Watch for Susan Sarandon's daughter as the only Jewish student in this catholic high school - definitely has her mother's comedic timing :)
