Typical young-love romance has small-town girl Rosalee (Bosworth) fall for actor-outsider Tad (Duhamel) while boy-next-door Pete (Grace) pines away in silence for her. Tad's agent (Lane) and manager (Hayes)--both oh so cleverly sharing the same name, Richard Levy--concoct the "win a date" contest to fix the bad boy image that's made him tabloid fodder. Rosalee is chosen and, to no one's surprise, Tad becomes intrigued. He pursues her much to Pete's dismay, and the usual dance ensues. Bosworth's down-to-earth appeal saves the formulaic concept but one wonders what prompted Broadway success Lane to take the bit role.
