Michael Caine plays Pierre Brossard, a Frenchman who helped the Nazis in the execution of several Jews during World War II. As a wanted war criminal, Brossard has been eluding authorities for years with the help of arch-conservative extremists within the Catholic church. While an interesting story, the movie is schizophrenic and leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Adapted from the novel by Brian Moore, it is actually based on the true story of Paul Touvier.
